It was not the Thoroughbred that brought Stephen to Newmarket in the summer of 2003, but it’s been the love and passion he developed for these amazing athletes that has kept him here ever since.

Stephen’s first three years in the home of racing was spent working for O.A Curtis and Sons. Perhaps by good fortune his role there included looking after Michael Jarvis’s powerful Fordham road stable.

In a yard full of quality one horse stood out; Rakti. A little over two moths after Stephen arrived he “plated” his first Group 1 winner when Raki powered away from a high class field in the Champion Stakes. Rakti would go on to score a further three times at the top level and in June of 2005 Eswarrah added her name to the Group 1 roll of honour when she won the Epsom Oaks. In total five Group One’s were won by horses shod by Stephen during his time working for Mark and Simon.

Since Ashmount Forge was established in 2007, Stephen and the team have shod a further twenty one horses that between them have won a total of forty five Group or Grade One victories worldwide.

Below are the horses that provided those victories, they are all special to us and it has been our privilege to work with these and all the other wonderful horses over the years.
