A quick glance at a company’s client list can say a lot about that business and at Ashmount Forge we are rightly proud of our clients both past and present.
While our client list is varied they all share similar qualties,
It was to gain experience at Rossdales Equine Hospital under the tutelage of Dr Simon Curtis that persuaded Stephen to move to Newmarket in 2003 so it was with a great deal of pride and satisfaction that Stephen’s Ashmount Forge joined the Rossdales farriery team in 2014.
Corrective farriery allows us to demonstrate our skill set and challenges us to develop it even further. This quest for knowledge has took us to many corners of the world where we have developed close contacts with many of the industry’s leading figures. Dr Scott Morrison of Rood and Riddle based in Kentucky has been very supportive in both sharing his time and knowledge.
Keeping on an international theme we have shod horses for many different international trainers when they have traveled their horse to England to run, very often at Royal Ascot. Both breeding and environmental factors are important in the development and ongoing health of the hoof so an in-depth understanding of the characteristics and challenges these horses face when relocating countries is important in maintaining soundness especially so close to what can be at times a career defining race.
Long before a horse is winning a race, competing in that dressage test or the pony is jumping a fence at pony club camp there is a foal. It is as a foal when the bones are growing and their growth plates open that a farrier can perhaps make the most impact. A farrier that understands the development of the foal and is sympathetic in their approach to the trimming and balance is of the utmost importance.
Trust is important in every relationship and we at Ashmount Forge take that trust and confidentiality placed in us very seriously and as such their are many clients for whom we do work for or offer advice that shall remain anonymous.
We much prefer to look to the future as opposed the past but a special thank you must go to the late Sir Henry Cecil who placed his trust in our company while it was still in its infancy and for which we will always be grateful.
