Noble Mission
All About Noble mission
Has a horse ever had a more fitting name than Noble Mission? A full brother to the mighty Frankel, Noble Mission started his career as a racehorse under the guidance of Sir Henry Cecil and remained at Warren Place to be trained by Lady Jane Cecil following the death of Henry in the summer of 2013.
Always a horse with considerable potential, it was in 2014, as a 5 year old, that he really burst on to the scene winning five races, three of those at Group 1 level.
Emotions were high at Warren Place following the death of Henry. The staff and most of all his wife Jane were hurting but determined to carry on his legacy.
It was in this environment that Noble Mission stepped out on to the track as a five-year-old and carried almost all before him. A change of tactics, allowing him to roll from the front proved inspired. Noble Mission not only carried his jockey James Doyle but he carried the hopes of Warren Place and the memory of its departed master Henry Cecil.
A first Group 1 was collected at the Curragh in the Tattersalls Gold Cup. This was followed by another in France in the Grand Prix Saint-Cloud before he was narrowly touched off in another Group 1 in Munich.
His final assignment came at the end of a long year in the rain-softened ground at Ascot in none other than the Champion Stakes, a race won two years earlier by his older sibling Frankel.
In one of the most gruelling races in recent memory Noble Mission once again went straight to the front and tried to make the running. A high-class field followed behind and as he increased the tempo one by one they dropped away till there was only one left. What followed up that Ascot straight was a story of bravery as Noble Mission refused to give best to Al Kazeem and he held on for a truly memorable victory in a race that had so much meaning and meant so much to so many.
